Golf Channel Selects aboutGolf’s PGA TOUR Simulator for Its New Studio
in News
aboutGolf has installed a highly-customized PGA TOUR Simulator in the new studio set for GOLF CHANNEL, which will be launched in January 2010, as will high-definition production capabilities for all its studio programming. aboutGolf has been selected as the exclusive on-air simulator provider for GOLF CHANNEL.
“Our process for securing simulator technology was based solely on finding the best technology to meet our needs,” says Dan Overleese, GOLF CHANNEL vice president of operations. “Our research verified that the PGA TOUR Simulator was the only product that had the definitive accuracy in measured launch data and modeled ball flight that our needs demanded.”
The PGA TOUR Simulator will be utilized by GOLF CHANNEL analysts for real-to-life demonstrations – like shot re-creation – and for shows like The Golf Fix, the popular, high-energy instructional show hosted by Michael Breed.
“The GOLF CHANNEL strives to deliver relevant news, analysis and instruction, so reliable and definitive data is critical,” said Chuck Faust, president of aboutGolf. “Not only does the PGA TOUR Simulator apply stereoscopic, high-speed photography technology, which is the ultimate platform for accurate measurement, but it is used with proprietary methodology that allows it to achieve an even higher level of accuracy and produce a realistic golf experience.”
3Trak, aboutGolf’s proprietary technology that powers the PGA TOUR Simulator, directly measures both the ball and the club, including the spin and spin axis of the shot, as well as precise velocity and trajectory, producing accurate ball flight. aboutGolf will also make high-definition, 3-D renderings of the 18th hole at many of the 2010 PGA TOUR scheduled courses available on GOLF CHANNEL’s PGA TOUR Simulator.
The simulator installation is just the beginning of what both organizations believe will be a strong partnership. Advanced development efforts and other initiatives to create the most compelling viewing experience for GOLF CHANNEL viewers are expected in the future.
